Custom-designed solutions Applications

Should the Menzi Muck spider machine be required for very specific applications, the basic machine can be configured to meet any and every requirement. the innovative Menzi engineering crew has at its disposal state-of-the-art working methods which it can put to use to create tailor-made designs meeting the most specific of requirements.

Sorting crane

The electric excavator is mounted stationary on a special chassis (the interface is fixed permanently to the base). The 380 V electric motor is used primarily in enclosed spaces or halls as it does not produce any exhaust gases and the noise level is significantly lower than that of diesel engines.

The 3-section boom which measures a total of 11.5 metres in length lends the E91 a huge operating range, in particular where jib range and dumping height are concerned. The lightweight sorting grab hardly reduces the lifting force at all. The special cab is fitted with Lexan panes and dust filters.

Technical data

Net lifting force 1400 kg at 11.5 m
Max. lifting force 6100 kg
Tare weight 5900 kg
Slewing torque 18.5 kNm
Electric motor 55 kW/400 V/100 A
Hydraulic pump 100 litres for industrial hydraulics
Gear pump 50 litres for slewing
Power supply 380 V AC and 220 V AC
Current transformer 24 V DC, 60 A

Municipal excavator

A company specialising in motorway maintenance services needed a particularly long boom. The Menzi Muck parks on the hard shoulder and uses its felling-collecting equipment to cut back overgrowth. This special jib range means that work can be carried out from the road.

Technical data

Gross lifting force 950 kg at 11 m
Net lifting force 530 kg at 12 m
Telescope extension 2170 mm
Slewing angle 220 degrees
Weight of crane and set 2150 kg
Operating pressure 24 MPa
Hydraulics 120 l/min.

Ramming equipment

The ramming equipment comprises the hammer and the mall. The unit is suitable for ramming steel profiles and pipes, timber piles, sheet piling, concrete piles or pile moorings. The hammer and cage feature built-in control hydraulics. The mall features a welded-on foot construction, rope pulleys, hose bracket and piston-side linkage for the positioning cylinder. The control box is located in the driver's cab. Fall height and/or the rate at which the hammer hits and is applied to the pile can be selected.

Technical data

Total weight of ramming equipment Approx. 2600 kg
Hydraulic requirement Min. 120 litres
Operating pressure 200 bar
Carrier payload 4500 kg
Piston weight 1000 kg
Max. pile weight 2000 kg
Length underneath pile hammer 680 cm

Underwater excavator

The construction of a 1200 km long gas pipeline is underway at a depth of up to 1000 metres on the ocean bed between Norway and the United Kingdom. A ship measuring more than 350 m in length and housing a pipe-laying system is being used at surface level. Two custom-designed excavators work at depths of up to 1000 metres to make ready and level out the ocean bed. Important components such as the boom and undercarriage have been designed using the know-how and technology of Switzerland's own Menzi Muck. Designed in St. Gallen (Rheintal) and featuring corrosion-resistant materials such as titanium and aluminium, these have proved vital to the implementation of the project.

Menzi Muck cable plough

The Menzi Muck cable plough is used wherever a cost-effective and efficient solution is required for laying pipelines for a variety of applications in the ground in a single operation. An external cable winch is used to pull the cable plough and the plough attachment digs the trench required for the pipes in the soil. Thanks to its many and varied adjustment options, the cable plough mounted on the chassis of the Menzi Muck A91 can be optimised for use on any type of terrain. This makes laying pipelines significantly easier, even on difficult terrain. A lightweight drawing winch with radio remote control and a crane are mounted on the basic unit to support the main function.
