Track building Movies Applications

SBB version for rail travel

Even stations and points can be approached at speeds of up to 13 km/h. On tracks, gradients of 7 in 1000 can be tackled.

Applications in Germany

On its two rail cars, the Menzi Muck is able to reach a top speed of 19 km/h. If the route needs to be freed up, the Menzi Muck is able to derail independently remove the rail cars from the line.

Working under a viaduct

The track over a viaduct in the Swiss canton of Grisons has been repaired using a Menzi Muck track excavator. Afterwards this same machine cleared the steep slope below. The track wheels also do not get in the way when undertaking construction engineering work in the bed of the stream.

No disruption in rail traffic

It is possible to move the rolling stock on and off the rails on the open track. However, so that rail traffic does not have to be disrupted too much during repair work, in the Swiss Canton of Grisons it is often necessary to work through the night.

A simple solution for rail travel

Machines without approval can be used on sections of track that are not in use. Examples of such might be a simple machine with drive shaft and gauge tie bar.
Another option would be to use rail bogie wheels at the front and rear with pneumatic drive alongside the rails.

Building of new tracks

Once the section of rail has been built, the Menzi Muck is used to unload and lay the rails. The Menzi Muck can also provide a versatile assistant for lines alongside the rails.
