Track building Movies Applications

A whole variety of solutions have been applied for the use of the Menzi Muck on railway tracks. The legal regulations and requirements to be observed vary from country to country.

The advantages of the Menzi Muck: small structure gauge, low tare weight, automatic rerailing and derailing on open track, work on and alongside the rail possible, low excavator centre of gravity, low transportation costs and improved price/performance ratio.

Track excavator/Two-way excavator (Deutsche Bahn)

The Menzi Muck two-way excavator, which has been approved by Deutsche Bahn (German national railway) uses a wheel and disk drive to reach a maximum speed of 19 km/h across the two rail cars. Because the rolling stock which is in short supply is no longer required, the operator gains flexibility and costs are minimised. Once it reaches the site, the Menzi Muck can derail independently or work alongside the track. The Menzi Muck can be used to lift the subframe off the track and set it down, thereby minimising or even eliminating idle times.

Rail excavator (Swiss national railway)

The rail excavator, which has been approved by the SBB (Swiss national railway) features direct rail wheel drive. Quick release fasteners mean that the drive unit can be dismantled in next to no time. The rear rail wheels (bogie wheels) can be lifted hydraulically. Speeds of up to 13 km/h are possible. The machine is able to rerail and derail independently. The Menzi Muck can work both on and alongside the track. This track version can be supplied for both standard and narrow gauges.
